Thad's first trip to Kansas

Thad and I went to Kansas for a whole week by ourselves! Adam took us to Goodland and my mom picked us up so I wouldn't have to drive with a 4 month old my myself. We had a nice visit and Thad met his cousins and other family members for the first time. A week might have been too long without daddy. He was missing his little guy pretty bad. We do have a web camera so he was able to see him almost everyday but its just not the same as actually holding his little baby. Thad had a good time with Grandma and Grandpa. They had him laughing and smiling the whole time! We had a full house with my nieces, Shayna 7, Hannah 5, Macie 4 and Dawson 2. It was very loud at times so we are looking forward to a nice quiet house. We took lots of pictures.
Now we are headed home tomorrow. Yesterday (Friday) my mom took us to Tribune where Adam met us at his mom's house. Thad has seen lots of family on this trip and most of Kansas! It will be nice to sleep in our own bed and get back in our routine. Thad and I caught a cold from one of the munchins running around. He seems better now but of course I have been freaking out since its his first cold. I guess he's been through worse and this too will make him stronger!

Thad's 4 month checkup

Its hard to believe Thaddeus is already 4 months old. This year has flown by so quickly! He got his shots today which was hard to watch. He was screaming and looking at me with his tear filled eyes and I couldn't do anything to take his pain away. Luckily he is such a strong boy and once I held him and fed him he was much better. He is 16 lbs 8.5 oz and 25 inches long. He's a big boy for only 4 months!

We gave him cereal for the first time on Monday which was interesting. He did pretty good for it being his first time eating cereal, as you can see!
He got a rash the next day but our
Dr. thinks the rash is from dry skin. So we'll wait a few days and try the cereal again. Even with all the bumps on his face he is still cute!

Our new blog

Well we finally created a blog! We love looking at Adam's sister's blogs so hopefully you will like looking at ours too! We were trying to come up with a clever name but the names we came up with were already taken. So Adam suggested since I like my reality TV shows, try and do a name based off of one of them. A few examples we were thinking of were:

The Youngers from "The Hills"
Younger's Anatomy from "Grey's Anatomy"
Dancing with the Youngers from "Dancing with the Stars"

So after thinking of ALL the shows I watch I came up with Keeping up with the Youngers from the TV show "Keeping up with the Kardashians"!! I think it fits us just right so now all of you can keep up with all the news going on in our lives.

Here is a summary of our lives.

Adam and I have been married for almost 4 years! We met in college at Fort Hays State Univ. in Kansas. We moved to Colorado Springs in 2003 and bought our first house this past year. Adam works for the YMCA as the Wellness Director. I work for School District 11 in the Human Resource dept. I am on LOA right now to stay at home with our precious baby boy(more on him later). We have been blessed many times in our lives. December 2005 we found out we were pregnant with our first child. Going in for our first sonogram they saw our little girl had a heart defect. Emma Renee was born August 2, 2006 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She had open heart surgery on August 11th and remained in the hospital for 6 weeks. November 8, 2006 she had another surgery for a G-tube(a feeding tube) and her little heart couldn't take it and she passed away November 9, 2006. She was and still is such a blessing in our lives. She taught our family the true meaning of life and how to live. Although she was only here for 3 months it was the best 3 months of our lives. We know we will be with her again and she is always with us now.
Six months later we found out we were expecting again! Again, our first ultrasound they also detected our little boy had a heart condition. Thaddeus Max was born January 21, 2008 with coarctation of the aorta and a VSD(a hole in his heart). He also had open heart surgery at 3 days old and was in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks. The beginning of April he had to go back to Children's Hospital to have a heart catheter. They ballooned the area that was narrowing and luckily we were home the next afternoon! He will be 4 months old this Wednesday, May 21st! He is over 16 lbs and the happiest baby. He has been through so much in his 4 months and is one of the strongest babies I know. I do have to brag that he is a true mamma's boy! We spend all day together which most of the day I am holding him so why wouldn't he be a mamma's boy!?!? We have alot of fun together going on stroller rides and hanging out.
I can't forget to mention our little pug, chauchi. He is 3 years old and before we had kids he was our baby. We spoiled him way to much and now we are paying for it. Now that Thad is home, Chauchi can't get on the furniture and sit on our laps like he did before. We are trying to tell him he is a dog and not a human! At times I get mad at him and threaten him that we are going to ship him off to a relatives house but deep down inside we know we would all miss him.
So this is just a brief summary of our lives, we hope you will check back with Youngers and keep up with our lives!
