Happy Halloween!!!

I'm a Giraffe!!!!! Thad made the cutest little giraffe for his first Halloween.

Hanging out with Papa Steve

I'm a chubby giraffe

Looking for his candy! Did Daddy eat it all?

At the Y where Adam works they had a Fall Family Festival. They had lots of games and candy for all the kids. Adam was a surfer dude and Thad didn't know what to think of his costume. When he first saw Adam with his blonde wig on he cried! He kept staring at Adam wondering why he was dressed like that.

Grandma Luci and Thad did a cake walk and won a cute little cupcake.

Thad after he didn't want to be a giraffe no more! He had enough and was ready to take the costume off. After a long day of shots, running around, and being in his costume he was ready to call it quits!
Even when he's mad he still makes a cute giraffe.Chauchi even had a little pumpkin shirt he got to wear for Halloween.

9 Month Check Up

Thad had his 9 month check up today with Dr. Hoover. He weighed 21 lbs 11 oz and 28 inches long. He had to get 3 shots and a poke on his big toe to check iron levels. He was a trooper though it all and only cried for a second or two!!! The check up went well and Dr. Hoover was excited that Thad has been sleeping in his own bed for the past few months. The only thing we really need to work on more is TUMMY TIME!! We all know how much Thad hates tummy time but we need to work on it and get his muscles stronger. He has had a runny nose for the past week which we think its from his top teeth making there way through. I can see where it looks like 2 or 3 are going to pop through anytime.

The puree baby food is going great! We have tried different fruits and veggies and he seems to love them all. Then again we haven't found a food that he hasn't liked. He is very interested in finger foods and notices when other people are eating. Thad is also getting the synagis shot once a month which will help protect him from RSV. Too many shots!!! He's a tough boy so he can handle it especially if it helps keep him healthy.

My parents came out for the weekend and its been nice having them here. Thad enjoys playing with them and getting the extra attention.

Puree Baby Food

Everyone has been telling me that they used to puree their babies food so I decided to try it! I started out buying 5 cans of veggies and got 16 servings out of it. I even combined sweet potatoes and corn together! We had saved all the containers from the baby food we previously bought so now it makes perfect serving sizes! Now I need to try some fruits and see what combos I can come up with. Adam got online and did a little research on puree baby food and found some good information on it. If anyone else has done this or knows something I should be doing different, I'd love to hear it.

Garden of the God's

I meant to post these pictures last weekend but didn't find the time. Last weekend we went for a walk at Garden of the God's. The weather was gorgeous and we got some good pictures. For Thad's first time there I think he enjoyed it too! After taking turns taking pictures with Thad a nice group stopped and took a few family shots of us.

9 Months Old

Wow, our little man is already 9 months old! In just three short months he is going to be a year old. He still hasn't started to crawl but I think it's coming soon. He's not fond of tummy time and lets us know it! He is starting to push up on his hands so its probably coming soon. His 9 month check up is on Halloween so we'll be able to see how much the tank weighs. We are excited for his first Halloween. You'll have to check back to see what Thad is going to be :)

Lookin cute in his Halloween shirt

New Toys Are Fun

Here is Thad's new toy I got at the MOPS sale. He LOVES it and is trying to push the little characters down. The yelling that you hear is what he does to people in the grocery store if they aren't paying attention to him. (you will have to pause the music at the bottom of our page to hear the video) Last week we were in the cracker isle and a little old lady had her back to him and he didn't like it! He yelled at her and she jumped and turned around thinking he was hurt and of course he starts rocking back and forth with a big smile on his face. He also yells at the pug alot and if we don't feed him fast enough. I'm not sure where he learned that but he has us figured out, all he has to do is yell and we cater to his needs!!!!

Thank Goodness for Fridays!!!!!

Yeah for Fridays! Full three days of staying home and being with Thaddy! Last night Thad and I went with Rhonda, his babysitter and another mom from her daycare to a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) big baby sale. It was in Woodland Park and was a HUGE sale. We walked in and there were tables full of baby clothes all sizes. One room full of toys, strollers, cribs, walkers, baby gates, etc, etc, etc. Any baby item you could imagine was for sale. I spent less than $5 and got several cute polo shirts, a jean jacket and a toy for Thad. It was a little overwhelming with all the people. I think we waited in line to check out for over an hour. It was a fun time and we got some bargains!

Our little Thad is becoming a little man. In the past few weeks he has really been good at picking up little finger foods. He loves the gerber puffs and tries to see how many he can get in his mouth. They dissolve pretty quickly and have lots of yummy flavors for him to try. Chauchi likes it when he drops them for him. He is very interested in all types of food. If Adam and I are eating something he stares at us and grunts to get our attention. Sometimes I have to sneak a bite of something so he won't see me!!! I think his favorite food is mashed potatoes. He never can get enough of those!

Here are some new pictures from the past week. I'm trying to get a good smile picture that shows his bottom two teeth but he doesn't like to show those off when the camera is out. I'll try and work on that this weekend!

How do working moms do it......

I work 4 days a week, go to work at 7:30 am and leave work at 4:30 pm. By the time I pick Thad up and get home it is 5:00. Attempt to cook dinner, eat dinner, feed Thad, bath time, etc. its 8:00 pm and he is ready for bed. It's hard being away from Thad for 9 hours on those 4 days. There is just not enough hours in the day. I feel like I have no time to cook, clean or blog! I think it's hard with one baby, how do families do it with more than one child especially single moms. I'm thankful I have Adam to help me with Thad and the house duties. I've only been juggling work and mommy duties for almost a month and I'm already tired of it! Why can't we all just stay at home and still get paid for it! Wouldn't that be nice. I know we are doing the best for our family. With me carrying the health insurance andThad needing the best coverage not knowing what tomorrow will bring, if he'll need another surgery or procedure done. I would love to be at home with Thad like it used to be but I know it's good for him to spend time with Adam on Monday's and also for him to interact with his new friends at daycare. I'm sure it will get easier as we go and we'll get a schedule that we are used to. I just needed a little rant!

Home is where the Heart is...

Today is the one year anniversary that we bought our first house. We have done many projects since we bought it including painting, tiled the kitchen and bathroom floor, ripped up all the outdated carpet, put in new baseboard, replaced kitchen sink and countertops, new light fixtures, landscaped and painted the outside of the house. Whew, we definitely couldn't have done all these projects without our wonderful family! I was 6 months pregnant with Thad so I was limited to what I could do. So it was all Adam, my uncle Frank, Aunt Diana, Uncle Tony, Aunt Sue, Kathy(Adams mom), Wayne, and my parents Steve and Luci. The house was definately dated in the late 60's with the carpet, wallpaper, a bright blue bathroom which every single wall (including the ceiling) was blue and linolium which had to go! Here are some before and after pictures.

We love our little home. It fits us all for now and we have a spare room for when we have family in town. It's nice doing work on your own house knowing it's yours and not a rental. Adam likes his yard and takes very good care of it (I'm not much of a gardner). He is always out there pulling weeds, watering, mowing or pruning our rose bush. We have good neighbors which have made us feel welcomed over the last year. One of our neighbors is a retired teacher and he comes over alot to give Adam advice on our rose bush. I think he likes to come over and tell us stories about what he did that day or what he is making in his backyard. He even puts our newspaper on our front porch every morning.

It's a nice feeling pulling up in the drive way knowing that this is our home. Especially in the winter months when I don't have to scrape windows!!!!!

Respect Life Sunday

Today at church we received a red rose as a symbol of respecting life. They showed a short video on commercials they will be releasing to spread the word about how important life is. This subject is very important to me which gets me emotional thinking about all the lives that have ended from abortion. I realize unplanned pregnancies happen, rape, etc but there is always a choice of adoption for your baby. A baby has the right to be born and experience life. Adoption is close to my heart as well because my brother and sister were adopted. My parents were told they would not be able to conceive a baby so they adopted my sister at birth as well as my brother two years later. They found out they were pregnant with me while going through the process of adopting my brother. Adam and I have even talked about adopting our next child. We know we have so much love to give a child and there are children out there who need love and a place to call home.

We are all God's children and he loves us all no matter what. I have a prayer card I got a few years ago. It is from Our Lady of Guadalupe Intercessor of the Unborn. This card recommends saying the following prayer daily for a period of one year:

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion."

First week at Rhonda's

We all survived Thad's first week at Rhonda's house! The first few days Thad didn't know what to think about being in a new place. He was a little sad and fussy but by the third day he knew it was a safe place for him to be. Rhonda said he was actually smiling at her by the third day. He is getting better with the bottle and is taking longer naps throughout the day since we have to get up EARLY! I miss the days of sleeping in until 9:00! They go on walks when the weather is nice, have picnics outside and play, play, play!!!! I think it will be good for him to be around other kids (especially when he gets older and is mobile). She said the other kids get sad when Thad is sad and try to comfort him. He is entertained by Izzy, her dog! We all know how much he loves his pug and Izzy is a bigger dog so he really likes her.

I am getting back into the swing of things at my work. The first day I was nervous, it felt like I didn't remember anything about my job but now it seems like I was never gone for 8 months!!! The days actually go by fast since it's a crazy time at work right now. It's nice having Friday's off! Rhonda sends us pictures of Thad throughout the week so that helps me get through the day. And of course I have a zillion pictures of him at my desk.
Thad's new friends!
