Super Hero Thad

Thad got a cool new cape! There is a company that makes capes for children who have gone through heart surgery.  I requested a cape about a month ago and we just got it in the mail.

It's really long on him now but he will grow into it just fine.  He likes running with it and having it fly behind him.  They had a few different designs to choose from but we chose the lightning bolt.

My sweet super hero!

Officially a stay at home mom!

I have been on a leave of absence from my job at the School District for the past 10 months.  I decided to take a leave of absence for one year after Oliver was born to see if we could afford to keep me at home.  I am happy to report I resigned from my job last week! It felt really great turning my resignation letter in.  District 11 has been great to me for the past 9 years.  I started in Human Resources as an intern right after college in 2003.  A job at the front desk became available and I got the job.  I then moved to an administrative assistant for one of the HR directors.  Through the past years they have been so understanding with everything in our lives.  I will always be grateful for the friendships I have built while working there.  I am so excited to be able to stay at home with my boys.  Being a stay at home mom is no walk in the park! Its great to be home and so rewarding but it's a tough job! I have also been watching a little 6 month old for the past few months.  We met through Mended Little Hearts and it has been great having him a few days a week.  Oliver and him have started interacting and like to reach out for each other.  This little boy has also had two heart surgeries and its a blessing to have him in our life.  Sometimes it can get a little crazy with a 4 year old, 10 month old and 6 month old but we have a good time and it helps that both babies are really good! Thad is my big helper (most of the time!)

Oliver- 10 Months

It's hard to believe in just 2 months Oliver will be a year old.  I know the time goes so fast but this time it really flew by.  Ollie is doing more things every day and getting to be such a big boy. He loves making cheesy grin pictures that show off his 6 teeth.

When we ask him "how big is Ollie?" he raises his hands and we say "this big!" He loves it and Thad likes to ask him how big he is.

He loves to clap his hands.  If someone on TV is clapping or if we are somewhere and they are clapping he stops to clap with them.

He is pulling himself up on everything.  He is getting braver about taking a few steps along the couch.  He started taking a few steps while holding onto my hands.   I'm not sure if I'm ready for him to be walking just yet.  He's a fast crawler and chases me everywhere so I can only imagine how fast he'll be when he's walking.

He is a BIG momma's boy.  I don't remember Thad being this bad but I'm sure it was because he went to daycare and was around other people throughout the day.  I can't even leave the room without him whining and chasing after me.  How can I resist this sweet face though.

Happy Easter

We hope you all had a Happy Easter yesterday.  We stayed in Colorado for Easter.  On Saturday we went to a Easter carnival sponsored by the Starlight Children's Foundation.  Ollie met the Easter bunny for the first time.  He didn't cry so that was good!

Thad loves the Easter bunny so he went right up to him.

They had a egg hunt and Thad had fun running and finding eggs.  It was a mad dash of people but we were towards the back of the field so Thad got to pick a few good ones before all the crazy people got to us!

Oliver only found one this year but he was good with that!

They had 3 big bouncy houses with slides that we couldn't get Thad out of.  He jumped and jumped. He liked to go backwards down the slides. They had games, cotton candy, snow cones and so many fun things to do.

We tried the new way to dye Easter eggs and had fun doing it without the mess.  You put vinegar on your eggs and then drip food coloring on them.  Give them a swirl and there you have it.

We used a little too much dye and too many colors and it turned all of our eggs green! I also had a little help dripping the food coloring so we probably used more than we were supposed to.  I tried one by myself with less coloring and it turned out a little better.

Easter morning the boys had fun finding their Easter goodies. Ollie knew exactly which one to crawl to.

My two handsome boys.  We are so blessed to have these sweet boys in our lives.  Thad is turning into quite the young man and Ollie is just sweet as can be!

Happy Easter from our family to yours!

Saturday Hike

Last Saturday we went on a hike.  It was beautiful weather and nice to get out of the house.

Oliver loves being outside and likes being in the carrier.

Thad does really good but sometimes he has to take lots of "rests!"

We switched Ollie to daddy's back.  What an ornery little grin!

We are so blessed to live in Colorado.  There is so much to do and the scenery is breathtaking!

Someone fell asleep

Taking in the scenery!

Spring is here!

We have had beautiful weather the past week.  Thad and Ollie were sick during Spring Break and it took a little while for them to recover.  Everyone is feeling much better so we got some outdoor time!

Thad still loves driving his Toy Story car.  He is a good little driver but gets stuck in the rocks every once in awhile :)

Ollie got to ride in the cozy coupe car for the first time and LOVED it! He thought he was pretty hot stuff riding in this car.  He liked beeping the horn too!

Daddy pushed him down the block and he smiled and laughed the whole time.

I am ready for more nice weather- as I type this now it is snowing  and Thad had a snow day today.  Colorado has crazy weather!

Painting

Thad and I went to one of Starlight's Great Escape's.  We went to this neat painting place- Paint the Town and Thad painted his first painting (with a little help from me!).  This place is really neat.  They trace the dog on the canvas and then we paint.

Thad was interested for a little bit and then he just wanted to run around.

I had fun finishing it for him! He would come back every once in a while and help me.
I think it turned out cute!
