Finished Friday

After 9 months of working on it, it's finally finished and hanging on the wall! I started this in December when I was pregnant with Thad. This pattern was special to me because it was the cover of Emma's funeral cards. When I saw this cross stitch pattern online I knew I had to do it. It's now hanging outside of Thad's room.

Tired Tuesday

This past week we caught our little guy falling asleep in unusual positions. The first time Adam and Thad were sitting on the couch and Adam glanced over at him and watched him fall asleep while sitting straight up on the couch!

The second time Adam and I were laying on the couch and Thad was in his exersaucer and he was making lots of noise rocking back and forth and all of a sudden I realized I hadn't heard him for a few minutes and we look over at him and this is what we found.
After a week's worth of fighting, crying, kicking, screaming, etc. this is what we have now.

I am very proud of Thad, for the past week he has slept in his own bed. The first few nights he got up 3-4 times(screaming) then it was 1-2 times a night(whining). Now he wakes up at least once and makes a little noice and then falls back to sleep on his own. I love it in the morning because when Adam gets up for work Thad is usually waking up about that time and he brings Thad to bed with me for a little more snuggle time. We usually end up falling back asleep and sleeping until around 8ish(or longer just depending on how tired we are!) I only have a month left of that so I'm going to enjoy it now! These past few nights I have gotten much needed sleep. I don't think I have had a full 5 hours of sleep in at least a year! I think Adam likes it to since he isn't hanging off the bed anymore. I do miss Thad sleeping right beside me but it has been nice with him in his own bed. I think he is starting to like it better too!

What Team.........Peter Bear!!!!!

Team Peter Bear

The Man of the hour, Mr. Peter Bear himself!

This weekend we walked in the Buddy walk in support of Peter bear! The buddy walk is a fundraiser/awareness for Down Syndrome. Along the way they had signs for each kid and this was Peters sign.

This was my second year walking with the Krause family and this year Adam and Thad joined us. Okay so Thad did attend last year except for he was still inside my belly :). It was a nice 3 mile walk around Manitou Springs. The weather was perfect which made for a great walk. We had buttons with Peter's picture and team name on them. Alexandra, the oldest of the Krause kids would call out "What Team" and we would all respond "Peter Bear!" It was a fun day and a great way to spend a Saturday. Lunch was provided after the walk with many giveaway's for the kiddo's. All ready for the walk with daddy!

We all got ribbons after we crossed the finish line that said "I finished buddy walk 2008!" Thanks John and Catherine for letting us share such a special day with you!

Date night with Adam

Last night Adam and I had an actual date! Our friend Natalie offered to watch Thad while we went out for a double celebration- our Anniversary and my birthday. We had dinner at Olive Garden, ran to Michaels and rented a movie. It was very wierd being without Thad. We were only gone for an hour and a half and I missed him like crazy. I only called Natalie twice during that time just to check on him and make sure he was okay. (I wanted to call alot more but Adam said he's fine, you don't need to call!) Of course he was okay, he likes hanging out with Nat. They played on the floor, ate mashed potatoes and sat outside. I know I missed him more than he missed us. He probably didn't even realize we were gone. We did get a big smile when we pulled up so that felt good!

I met Natalie over 5 years ago when we both worked at Pier 1. Funny thing is, we are related! We started talking about being from Kansas and I mentioned my Grandma Knopp's maiden name and wouldn't you know that is her Grandma's last name! My dad and her mom are second cousins. So we might be distantly related but how odd to move to Colorado and then meet her. She was a bridesmaid in our wedding and has been a great friend to us. She has been there for us when our world was upside down. She always takes care of our house whether its getting the mail or letting Chauchi out if we are going to be gone for a while. Thanks for always being there for us and being such a great friend and a great "Aunt" to Emma and Thad!

7 months old

Yep, I'm 7 months today! Can you believe it? I am growing up way too fast and mommy wants me to slow down. I love my voice especially during church but I have lots to pray about and be thankful for! I have mastered sitting on my own but can't seem to get my leg over to roll completely over. I love being outside whether its just sitting on the front porch or going on walks with mommy, daddy and of course Chauchi. Did I mention I LOVE my pug Chauchi? If I am ever in a bad mood(which is hardly ever) all I have to do is see my pug and I perk right up! I love talking on the phone when people call and seeing Grandma on the computer. I love my toys but I really love those tags they put on them. They are fun to grab and chew on. I have so much more to explore in this great big world! I'll keep you posted on what I find.

Love,
Thaddy
P.S. I guess I'm getting older because the last two nights I slept in my own bed! I put up a good fight in the beginning but my parents won and I actually spent the entire night in my bed. I still woke up about 3 times a night to make sure they were still there and could give me my binkie.

Budke Sisters in New York

My mom, her 6 sisters and my grandmother all went to New York for a sisters weekend at the beginning of August. They went to the Lion King on Broadway, World Trade Center Memorial, shopped till they dropped, and went to the Today show. They all wore red shirts that day trying to get on tv and held a sign that said "Mother Cecila and her 7 daughters from Kansas." Well it worked, I recorded the show and saw the red shirts with my grandmother, aunts and mom on TV!!! I recorded a little video clip from the TV when the camera was going down the line of people. Some of the sisters were also in the backround when Meredith and Al were talking outside.

Here is Marilyn, Luci(my mom), Diane, Barb, Mary, Nancy, Charlene and Grandmother!

Best Buddies

Every Sunday night we meet with families from our church. For over two years we have done a "Why Catholic" group where we study different topics in the Catholic Church. We usually don't meet for the summer but decided to do a Dave Ramsey group for the summer. Last night we went for our meeting where Thad and Peter played and posed for the camera. Here are some VERY cute pictures of Mr. Thad and Mr. Peter Bear.

I'll hug you if you hug me!

Peter is on the go with his army crawl and Thad will soon be chasing after him. Peter also had open heart surgery so Thad and Peter have lots in common. We'll have to take a picture of their "zippers" next time.

Cardiologist Check up

Thad had his cardiologist check-up today. Everything went well just as we had hoped and prayed for. He weighs 20 lbs 5 oz!!!! Dr. Brames said they measured a little narrowing in the aortic arch which wasn't too concerning to him. The mitral valve hasn't gotten any worse so that is great news. They are still watching it closely and Dr. Brames still thinks they will have to replace the valve one day. He said hopefully it will be after he is 2 years old since the heart will be bigger and Thad will be stronger. We don't have to go back until November 13th! Each visit we get a little more time added on to our next appointment.

Everyone always asks me if Thad's weight affects his heart so I asked Dr. Brames and he said absolutely not which is good since he likes his baby milk! Other than that no news is always good news! We are very thankful for how well he is doing. He is such a blessing in our lives.

Here is an update to a post I posted a few weeks ago about Thad sleeping in his own bed. I think the pictures will speak for themselves!
His bed:

Our Bed:Adam and I both decided that it won't hurt him or us for Thad to sleep in our bed for a little while longer! It's so hard to put him in his bed and hear him cry. It seems like he is crying for hours when really it has only been 5 minutes. (Do you notice Chauchi laying in between Adam's legs!) We sure do have a family bed!

Actually last night we did try something different. Thad woke up at 10p, 12a, 2;30a and 5a. The only time I nursed him was 2:30a and the other times I patted him or tried the binkie. He never wants anything to do with a binkie but last night after a few minutes of whining and crying he took the binkie!!!! I couldn't believe how well the first night went with only nursing him once. Maybe this will be easier than we thought! We'll try and get through this for a week and then maybe try his own bed! I'll keep you posted.

Picture Day!

On Saturday we took Thad for picture day at Sears. He did very good, smiling for every picture. It was impossible to pick the one's to buy! Adam finally took Thad and walked around while I was trying to make up my mind. I am so indecisive on things! They give you a CD with all the pictures on it so you have something to see until the real deal comes in. Now I can print as many as I want on Shutterfly! Here are just a few we took.

P.S. Dave(Ramsey- from the Total Money Makeover) would not be proud of us! I went in with a coupon for $4.99 and told Adam, we for sure were NOT spending more than $30 on pictures. Oops, sorry Dave, we spent a little more than that! An investment well worth the money!

What's in a name

Okay Beth, here goes! Beth (Adam's sister) did a blog about her families names.......so here it goes for our family names!

Adam Max-
Adam's middle name was for sure going to be Max since it is his dad's middle name. When I asked Kathy why she chose Adam she said they were going to try a J name to match Jason, Jill and Jena but that would leave Beth out. She liked the name Keith but it didn't go well with Max. She wanted a short and simple name and also looked through baby name books and chose Adam.

Some of Adam's nicknames from his childhood are, "little guy" because Adam was the youngest in his family, "hamburger" because he was always getting scraped up, and bulldozer because he would put his head down and plow forward. His friends from highschool called him "sneak or skunker." They started out calling him sneak(not sure why?) and someone asked one time, "what do you call him, skunk?" and that's how skunker started! When we went back to Tribune for fair I still heard a few of his friends call him skunker. I never call him Adam and when I do he thinks he's in trouble! I guess for the past three years I have called him "daddy"(I know he's not my daddy but since he is the daddy to my children it just stuck) so it seems wierd when I call him Adam.

Mindy Renee
When my parents were deciding on names for me they had to have a "M" name because my sister and brother were named Michelle and Mike. My mom started picking M names such as Margaret, Mary, Melissa and Mindy. She would say my sister and brother's names with each of the M names she picked out and decided Mindy sounded the best with Michelle and Mike. We were called the three M's growing up!
When I was growing up people would always ask me "Where's Mork?" from the TV show "Mork and Mindy." Almost anywhere I would go I would have someone ask me that question. It got very old very fast! Not too many people ask me that now but every once in a while I get the infamous question!
My nicknames over the years have been: Roonie-given by my sister because she couldn't say Mindy Renee so it was Mindy Roonie which she still calls me every once in a while. Mindo-not sure how this one came about but I got the nickname in college. Minow- from my nephew Zekke, one day he just started calling me Minow and still does. Min, which is what my parents usually call me and Adam mostly calls me mamma or Mindo and rarely calls me Mindy. My nieces started calling me Didi almost 6 years ago! Shayna couldn't say Mindy so she would call me Didi and it just stuck! Even now they can say my name but it seems wierd when they do so I prefer them to call me Didi. This is probably my most popular nickname!

Emma Renee
I think I was the one who really chose Emma's name. From the first time we found out we were having a girl Emma was the only name in my head. I always thought it would be cool to have twins and name them Emma and Ethan! Well we only got one so Emma it was. Even if we wanted to change her name at birth we couldn't have! Emma was known by everyone from carepages to pre-nantal visits. Her carepage was already named EmmaYounger before she was 4 months old in utero! Her middle name obviously came from my middle name.

Emma had a few nicknames such as: Emma girl, baby girl, bg (from the initials baby girl) and Adam sometimes called her Emerson! Emma Renee is the perfect name for our little angel.

Thaddeus Max
We were debating between a few names for Thad. I really like the name Ethan (since I didn't have my twins I could still have Ethan and Emma!) We were set on Max for the middle name since that is Adams middle name and also his dad's middle name. We really didn't think Ethan Max went well together so my Ethan name got vetoed. We had heard Thaddeus in the Bible from St. Jude Thaddeus and really liked it and it went well with Max. So that is how Thaddeus's name came about. Now I couldn't imagine calling him anything else but Thad!

He has a few nicknames such as: Thad, Peanut, Thaddy, baby boy, fuzzy butt(Adam started calling him fuzzy butt because he would rub his head and his hair is fuzzy!), and last but not least is pug baby! Yes, we call our baby boy "pug baby" but there is a little story behind it. We call Chauchi "pug" alot and for some odd reason started calling Adam "pug daddy" and then he would call me "pug mamma" so it only seemed right to call Thad "pug baby". We try not to call him pug baby in public so people don't look at us funny!!!!

I also have to comment on our last name. You would be surprised how many people would come into my work and say, "Younger, yea I guess you are younger than everyone here" or if I would tell them my full name they would say "younger than what?" or my favorite "well at least when you get older you'll still be younger!"

Now you know all our crazy nicknames and the history of our names.
(This was fun Beth!)

Weekend in Tribune

This past weekend we took the mini van on it's first trip to Kansas! It was so nice to have the extra space and of course the distraction of a movie playing! All of Adam's family was able to make it home, all 5 kids plus spouses, 9 grandkids and 2 pugs. Sorry Wayne and Kathy if we destroyed your house over the weekend! It was a hot 106 degrees in Tribune! The fair was going on and Adam had his 10 year class reunion. Adam drove the tractor in the parade with Zekke, Titus and Jacob.

We had a nice birthday party for Emma with cake and ice cream. We wrote messages with all our names on pink balloons and sent them to Heaven.
Here are the family pics, all 21 of us!
All the cousins
