Update on Emma letter

A few people have asked me about the letter someone left on Emma's grave. I posted the story a few weeks ago. I did call the person who left the letter and had a nice conversation with her. Her son is now 3 1/2 months old and is doing really good. He was hospitalized in Colorado Springs for a while with RSV. It was really touching to hear all the things she had to say about Emma. She never knew Emma but took the time to hear our story. She truely believes Emma helped her son. I have no doubt Emma is doing wonderful things in Heaven and touching lives along the way!

Potty Training 101

We have been potty training Thad since his birthday in January. Last week was the first week he actually went in the potty for us! My mom was out here for a week and he went for her a few days then wanted nothing to do with the potty! Over the weekend he went 4 times and didn't have any accidents (except nap time)!!!! He is so excited when he goes and claps his hands! He really likes to flush the toilet but can only do it when he goes potty in it. I thought we were at a lost cause for a while but now he tells us when he has to go and we run to the bathroom.
Yeah Thad! Keep up the good potty work :)

Dear Emma.........

Last week we went to the cemetary and found a letter and baby blanket at Emma's grave. The letter was to Emma from someone we have never met. It shows you just how much Emma is affecting lives she never even knew. The letter reads:

Dear Emma,

Hi babygirl. All thou we never met I have visited you many times before. Unknown to your self you have given me and my family such strength. My 3 month old son fell very ill and his lungs collapsed. He stopped breathing and was hospitalized. My sister and I came to visit her best friend buried not to far from here and I was drawn to your grave. I sat here with you and cried begging for help. Then suddenly I was covered with a feeling of peace. I have visited you often since. My family and I are now moving to Wisconsin. I couldn't go without saying goodbye and thank you. You truely were an angel to me. God Bless you.

She left her name and number on the letter and I am calling her this weekend. This letter gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. Emma is so special and has changed so many lives. She was put here on this earth for a short time but will touch lives for years to come.

SURPRISE!!!!!

I had a surprise party for Adam's 30th Birthday last night. I have been thinking of this party for over a year and I'm glad it was a success! Adam had no clue and was very surprised. I had the party at Old Chicago's. We never eat at Old C's so I told Adam my Uncle Tony picked the restaurant. It was also Tony's birthday so it was easy! He didn't think anything of it and went along with the plan. He thought it was only going to my my mom, nieces and Aunt and Uncle going to dinner. He was in for a BIG surprise! I made him drop us off at the front of the restaurant and told him to park the car. My mom ran back to the room and I waited for Adam. I told him my Aunt got us a table in the back with the KU/K-State game. We headed towards the back of the restaurant and opened the doors to the room.

Right when we walked in the room everyone yelled SURPRISE!!!!! At first he just looked around the room like he didn't know what to do or think.

It was a good mixture of family and friends. Thad even had one of his friends, Choloe!

A few of his high school friends Justin, Jeremy and Kyle made it out for the big party.

The two birthday boys, Tony and Adam
It was a great party. Thanks for everyone who made it so special. I'm glad it's over and I don't have to lie to Adam anymore! I almost slipped so many times. I had to catch myself alot!

We love you Adam! Hope you had a great birthday.

Counting Sheep....or Counting Names

This is Thad's third night in his big boy bed! The first night went really well until he fell out of bed :( When we put him to bed he stayed in bed and fell asleep fast. We were shocked he didn't get out of bed and try to play with all his toys! At 10:30 I heard a THUD and a cry.....he fell out of bed. I put him back in, tucked him in and went back to bed. At 11:00 I heard another THUD and cry.....he fell out of bed again. So after the second time we knew it wasn't going to work. We had a bed rail from when he slept with us so we got that out and set that up. At 11:30 I heard another THUD and a BIG cry.....this time he fell in between the bed and bed rail. At midnight we decided to put the crib back together! Thad loved it because he was playing with his toys wide-a-wake! After Adam got the crib back together he went back to sleep. I felt so bad for him falling out of bed-it wasn't a big fall, but for him to be sleeping and all of a sudden he wakes up and is on the floor!
The next night Adam fixed the bedrail so it is very tight with screws in the floor holding it tight! He did great last night and is so excited to crawl into bed each night.
Every night he has a routine for bedtime. We all go into his room, he shuts the light off and crawls into bed. He points to his chin which means for me to tickle his face. He chugs his milk and we sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" He asks about a few people (Nana, Papa, etc) and then he goes to bed. He usually yells for me one more time which means he is delaying sleep and wants another drink, more tickles and another song. Tonight I went into his room and he went through about every name he new! He starts off with Papa, Nana, Moak-moak(Smokey my parents dog), Sue, Tony, Emily, Denali and Buddy (my Aunt's dogs), Macie, Mia, Dada, Momma, Chauchi, Sid (from Sid the Science Kid!).............I tell him that they are all sleeping and that he needs to go to sleep!
He's so funny and I love when he starts naming all the names he knows. It's funny to see him trying to think of the next name he wants to say. I guess he doesn't like to count sheep but rather say all the names he knows!

I'm a big boy now!!!!

Thad got a makeover in his room today! We turned his crib into a big boy bed! So far he loves it! He is so proud of his new bed and that he can get in and out of it by himself. We'll see how tonight goes. Hopefully he will stay in bed and not get out and play!

We went with a sports theme and got all new bedding, curtains and decorations. The toy box was Adam's when he was a baby. I think he got it for his first or second Christmas (right Kathy?)

Posted by PicasaHere is video of Thad checking out his new bed for the first time! He is so excited......

We'll keep you posted on how he does with his big boy bed.

Daycare Potluck

Rhonda had a potluck last weekend and Thad was excited to see his buddies Jesse and Chloe.

Thad and Jesse (with Chloe in the background!) eating dinner!

The three amigos!

Thad ~ Chloe ~ Jesse

One of the funnest things to do at Ms. Rhonda's is to push the strollers around the table! They sing round and round!!!!! I think they could push those around the table all day long. It never fails that one of them goes the wrong direction and slows the rest up!!!!! They even get run over a few times by the stroller!

After dinner we played a game while the kiddo's watched a movie and tore up Rhonda's house!!!! Thanks for a fun Saturday Rhonda!

First day on the job.......

I interviewed for a new position at work and found out Tuesday that I got it!!!!! It's even a promotion! My new title is Administrative Assistant to one of the Executive Directors. Today was my first day and it was BUSY! It seemed like I came to work and it was already 5:00! The only down side of the position is I have to give up my Friday's with Thad :( I'm sad about this but ready for a new change at work. My work/boss has been so understanding with everything in our life. I'm glad they let me spend my Friday's at home with Thad as long as they did.

I'll keep you posted how the job is going!
