Kansas Getaway!

We had a long weekend in Kansas for my cousin's wedding. We made a few stops along the way. Wednesday night we stayed in Goodland and hung out with Jena and Jill and all the boys. Thad had a little hitting issue and was beating up on poor Joshy! Sorry Josh that Thad was hitting you! You'll get him back one day. It was also Josh's first birthday. We then left for Russell on Thursday.

Thad had a good time hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa and seeing the girls. He too hit them especially Shayna, he attacks her!! We are working on his hitting and it's just a phase so hopefully he grows out of it quickly!

The wedding was in Wichita where it was HOT! The heat in Kansas with the humidity makes it hard to breathe!! It was all indoors so it wasn't too bad. We also went swimming a few days so it helped cool us down.

My whole family made it to the wedding. It was my cousin on my dad's side so 8 out of 9 of his siblings made it home. It was good seeing all the Aunts, Uncles and cousins. It makes me feel old seeing all my little cousins so grown up.

Thad had a good time playing with Dawson and dancing. He loves to dance so he was out on the dance floor showing all the ladies his special moves and trying to steal binkies from the other babies!!!

Here is my family with my brother's girlfriend Alicia (who is expecting in November), Mike, Dawson, Shayna, Macie, Hannah, my sister Michelle, Doug, my parents and Adam, Thad and I.

We left Wichita on Sunday and headed back for Russell. We stopped off in Salina to see Adam's dad and Grandparents. It's always nice to stop and visit with them. They were excited to see Thad and see how big he is!
It was a fun weekend but we had one more stop before heading home! My friend Kristi from college was headed back home to Wamego so we pulled off interstate at Wilson to see her for a quick 15 minute stop! She is pregnant with her first child due in just a month. We haven't seen each other in 5 years! She looked super cute and I'm glad we were able to meet up for a few minutes.

After all that traveling we stayed the night in Russell and headed back to Colorado on Monday. We had a good time even though it was hot! We had so much fun we are going to do it all again next weekend! My 10 year class reunion is next weekend in Russell so we are headed back in a few days for July 4th weekend.

Our new patio

My handy husband put down a stone patio over the past few weeks. We had no place to sit outside and enjoy our nice Colorado weather. It was covered in rock so he dug out all the rock and layed 166 stone pavers. Here is the before picture.

Thad was a good foreman and told Adam how to lay the stone!! (so if it's crooked Adam blames Thad!)

He also showed him how to use a rubber mallet.

We needed something to seperate where the patio ended and the other rock is so Adam built this neat wall. (this is my favorite part of the patio)
This is the back side of the wall

Thad and Chauchi gave their final inspection on the patio and gave us the okay!

Now we have somewhere to eat dinner on nice nights and enjoy the nice Colorado weather. I'm glad I have a handy husband who likes to do all these projects around the house! Thank you to all you other "little helpers" who helped out!

Blessing 26-Heart Walk 2009

We had a great time at the Heart walk. It was a bit chilly and drizzled a little. We intended to do the 3 mile walk but ended up only doing the 1 mile walk! My mom and Macie were still in town so they walked with us. After one block Macie asked if it was time for a break yet!!!!

We made signs and buttons to wear along with our "The beat goes on" t-shirts. This is a heart support group I found in Colorado Springs so we had a team walking. We made a sign for Macie that said 'In memory of my cousin Emma' She was very proud to carry her sign and got many comments on it.

Thad's friend AnnaSophia was there so they flirted just a little and held hands! They are too cute together. Mary (AnnaSophia's mom) and I talked and said when they are 30 they can get married!

It was a great time with booths filled with healthy information. They had a bouncer for the kids, music and lots of freebies.

Thad got his very own heart hat and a pin to start collecting each year we walk.

Thad had a new friend he found. I can't believe he wasn't scared of the big bird! He wanted to give him many hugs.

It was great to have Grandma and Macie walk with us. Adam wasn't able to get off work for the walk so it was nice to have other walkers with us.

We made it in the cold windy wet weather!!! I wish it would have been warmer for the kids but we still had a good time and Thad walked over the finish line. He got many comments today and we are so blessed he is doing so well. We're ready for next year's walk!

Blessing 25

Happy Father's Day Adam. We are having a nice day at home together. This was one weekend we actually stayed in Colorado Springs and didn't travel anywhere. Thad got daddy a basket full of goodies including a leaf blower. That is what Adam wanted so Thad picked one up at Home Depot! He also made Adam a nice card with the Top 10 Reasons why Adam is his dad! I put a picture on each page and a reason why Adam is Thad's dad.

Here are the top 10 reasons:

1. To be there every step of the way

2. To teach me to be strong

3. To hold my hand when I am scared

4. To show me how to love

5. To show me to reach for my dreams(or a giraffe)

6. To teach me it's okay to cry

7. To teach me to play golf

8. To teach me to drive

9. To take me camping

10. And last but not least......To wear grey sweat pants with me(Adam and Thad have the same pair of elastic grey sweat pants that they like to wear on the same days so I had to put that one in!!!!)

Happy Fathers Day to a great husband and father. I am so lucky to have you in my life and be the father of our two children. We have been through so much together and it has only made us stronger. Thad is so blessed to have you as his daddy.

Happy Father's Day to my dad, Adam's dad, Wayne and all of you other dad's!!! Hope you had a great day.

Blessing 24

Grandma Luci and Macie came this week to babysit Thad. I think Thad has been missing his friends from daycare so it was nice to have Macie here to play with him. He was doing good at first loving on Macie but soon turned to hitting her. He had to sit in time out for a few times which he does good sitting there until we tell him he can get up. He gets right up and hits again!

They had a fun time playing outside and going on wagon rides. We made a stop to the tasty freeze and had an icecream cone. Thad new just what to do with the icecream cone and opened his mouth wide and dug in! He kept doing the sign for more.

Grandma and Thad had a fun together. Grandma taught him to show how old he is. When you ask him how old is Thad, he puts up his one finger and claps. We also walked in the Heart walk on Saturday (I'll post more about that later). It was a fun time even though it was COLD! We took Grandma out to eat at Joe's Crab Shack. If you have never been to Joe's it is a fun, loud and crazy environment. The waitors are all loud, the music is loud and they dance around the tables for you. This was right up Thad's alley so we put him down so he could dance too. Of course I didn't have my camera with me but the waitress was taking pictures and said they would be on their website in a few days. I'll have to check and post some of those pictures. He was clapping and dancing and stole the show!

Thad has definately been spoiled these past two weeks with both Grandma's. Daddy's turn is next week so they are going to have a nice boy's week.

Thanks mom for coming out and spending the week with Thad. Thad is lucky to have you!

Family Reunion

This past weekend Thad and I went back to Kansas for a Family Reunion on my dad's side. It was my Grandma's (my dad's mom) side of the family. My mom didn't know we were coming so she was very surpised when she saw us! We rode with my Uncle Tony and then came back with my mom since she was coming to Colorado for the week.
We went to my parents cabin first at Cedar Bluff where 5 of my Aunt's and Uncle's met up. Macie was also there since she was coming to Colorado with my mom. She took Thad on several rides in the barbie car which he loved!

We also took a ride in the razor my parent's fun new toy they got for the lake. The water was cold so we didn't go swimming but Thad like walking around the lake.

After a night at the cabin we all loaded up in 4 vehicles and traveled to Colby where the Reunion was. Of course we made a few stops in Leoville and Seldon. We stopped by a few of the cemetary's to see Great Grandparents and my Grandparent's grave site.

I didn't know a whole lot of people at the reunion but I was able to see some Aunt and Uncle's(my dad's brothers and sisters). A total of 7 out of 9 siblings were there so it was good to visit with them.

We had a BBQ Saturday night in the park. Thad and Macie had a fun time playing. This park was HUGE!!! There were a total of 6 slides, lots of swings and other fun things to climb on. Thad went down the slide a few times with Papa Steve and was hooked on the swings.

It was a quick trip back to Kansas but I'm glad we went. We rode back with my mom and Macie and kept them company for the trip back to Colorado.

Blessing 23

Grandma Kathy came out for the week to babysit Thad. Rhonda is on vacation for three weeks in Sweden! We are very thankful we have such a good family to help us out. Grandma Kathy was here this week, Grandma Luci will be here next week and Adam took off the last week in June.

Thad and Grandma Kathy had lots of fun this week. They played outside alot! Thad definately dug around in the dirt and had fun climbing up the stairs. He might of ate a few rocks over the past week. Grandma spoiled Thad and bought him a couple trucks he can play outside with. He also got a new lawn mower which he loves to push and pull around. They even saw a deer wander down our alley! Thad was pointing at it calling it a dog-dog.

They had a good time together during the day watching new shows on PBS, dancing around, chasing Chauchi, taking baths, and getting dirty outside. Thad is going to be spoiled by the end of June!!!! Grandma Kathy also found the missing bottle we lost about a week ago with milk still in it. YUCK! Luckily she found it and Thad didn't try to drink out of it.

Thanks Grandma Kathy for spending the week with Thad, we are lucky to have you!!!!!
