15 month check-up

Thad had his 15 month check up with Dr. Hoover yesterday. He weighed 24 lbs 9 oz and was 30 inches tall. He has definitely slowed down on his weight! We were looking at his growth chart when he was a buddha baby and in the 80th percentile around 7 months! Now he is in the 50th percentile in both height and weight. He had to get only 2 shots and cried for just a minute. He is a tough little guy. Dr. Hoover said he looked great and was right on track. Of course he didn't like to hear Thad still gets a bottle at night. He said to try and wein him off soon. He loves his bottle, binkie and little blankie he carries around with him. I think a few more months won't hurt! As long as he doesn't take his bottle to preschool with him I think we'll be fine. ;)

He now has 12 teeth. He loves biting into a sandwich or cracker, anything with a crunch he loves! He now bites his gold fish in half and thinks it is so funny. His favorite words to say right now is of course dada (he still won't say mama very often, I think he does this on purpose!), papa, cha cha (for chauchi), ball, more, hot, dog dog and Jesse(his friend from daycare). He oots like a monkey whenever he see's a dog or other animal. He also knows baby sign language. Rhonda his babysitter teaches the kiddos sign language. He knows how to sign milk, more, all done, sleep, dada, mama, and please.

Rhonda started a blog for the daycare kids. You'll have to check it out from time to time to see Thad and all his daycare friends. It is on my blog list under Rhonda's heart to heart blessings.

Fun in the Sun

We have had beautiful weather this week. We took advantage of it yesterday and played outside. Thad loved the grass. He wasn't sure of it at first since it was pokey and cold on his hands. Chauchi and Thad wrestled in the grass and had a fun time!

Fun day at the zoo

We had a great family day at the zoo! Grandma Luci got Thad a membership for his birthday so today we took our first visit with Thad. He LOVED it! He was really excited to see the giraffes since they up close and personal! We bought giraffe crackers to feed them and Thad decided he wanted to try them too! YUCK! He didn't actually bite into the cracker but it did make its way into his mouth. After that we decided daddy would feed the giraffes.

We also visited the spot where Adam proposed to me more than 5 years ago.

We saw lions, elephants, monkeys, leopards, hippos, birds, snakes, giraffes, and so many more animals. Thad actually saw most of them even the ones behind the gates and glasses. He growled at a few of them and yelled at most of them. He even did his little "curious george oot" for the monkeys!

This was the newest addition to the zoo. The little gorilla was eating some type of noodles and loving them!
By the time we were finished we felt like this hippo. Tired and worn out!!! Thad was showing us the baby sign for sleep! Cheyenne Mt. Zoo is on a Mountain so its lots of up hills and down hills. It was a great day and we look forward to going back real soon. Thanks Grandma Luci for the zoo membership!!

Two of a kind

Thad watches Chauchi's every move. They have become very good friends this past year. Chauchi is always on neighborhood watch and now Thad is too!

Chauchi doesn't like it when we keep him from the kitchen. He likes to beg over the babygate and hope we will drop him some food. Well Thad does too now!

And finally Thad always sees Chauchi go into his kennel to take a nap so he decided he wanted to try it out!

What will they think of next!!!!!

Blessing 15

Thad got his last Synagis shot for this season. Synagis helps protect Thad from RSV-Respitory Syncytial Virus. During the months of October through April he gets one shot every month. We have a nurse who comes to our house to give him this shot. We have been very blessed with Thad's health this past year. He has had a few runny noses but nothing major and no hospital visits (okay we did have to go to the E.R. in September last year because he had a 102 degree temperature). Other than that visit he has been healthy and did not get RSV. RSV can be dangerous for heart babies since it attacks their immune system and makes their heart pump harder.

We have a strong healthy boy!

Thad's First Steps

Last Friday the 10th Thad took his first steps on his own! We were so excited and so was he. He only took about 3-4 steps on his own. Before long he will be walking all over the place.

Happy Easter

We stayed in town for Easter this year. When we woke up it was just starting to snow and by the time we were out of church it was a blizzard outside! We went to 7:30 am church so it wouldn't be during Thad's nap. He did pretty good except the last 10 minutes. We had our friends over for lunch with ham and all the fixings. Of course we ate and ate Easter candy and made ourselves sick! Then played games and bowled on the Wii.

Thad finding what was inside his Easter eggs! Goldfish!! He loved going to each one and opening them then dumping them on the floor for Chauchi to eat.

Chauchi even snuck an egg away from Thad and had fun chasing it around. Posted by Picasa

Blessing 14

Yesterday was a big change in the weather. Last week it was snowing and now it is 70 degrees! It would have been a perfect day for a long walk or a day at the park. Thad hasn't been feeling well the past few days so I stayed home with him on Tuesday. He has a runny nose and a nasty cough from all the drainage. Even though he has been sick he is still a happy boy. After his afternoon nap we took a quick stroll up and down the street in his wagon. He loved it! A big difference from the last wagon ride we took. He beamed the entire time. It was good to spend an extra day with him except for the fact that he wasn't feeling good.

Today was a little taste of summer and I can't wait to go to the park or the zoo. I'm ready for the cold weather to go and the warm weather to stay!!!!

Review for "Historic Photos of Colorado Springs"

I received an email from a publishing company in Nashville, Tennessee. They were contacting local blogs in the Colorado Springs area and wanted to send us a book of Historic Photos of Colorado Springs. All they wanted in return was a post/review on our blog. We received the book this week and it is a 200 page book of black and white historic photos and captions. The text and captions were written by Sharon Swint of Colorado Springs.

We enjoyed looking through this book and seeing all the old photos of Colorado Springs. There are pictures and stories of the pioneers that help make Colorado Springs what it is. It was neat looking at some of the old photographs of schools, buildings and other places we pass by on a daily basis.
The book has taught us alot about the city we live in. It will be nice to share with family and friends when they stop over. I wish some of the old buildings pictured in the book were still up and running. It's a shame they had to tear so many of them down. The book helped me realize what a great place Colorado Springs was and still is.
If anyone would like more information about the book you can go to www.turnerpublishing.com
Thanks to Turner Publishing for contacting us and sending us this book.

Thad and his new friends

Thad used to be afraid of his friend Tigger and Spiderman. All of a sudden he decides he wants to see Tigger bouce and Spiderman move his arms! When they stop he starts yelling at them and us to play them again. We are trying to show him how to turn them on but he would rather have us turn them on! He gets so excited when we turn them on.

Blessing 13

This weekend Wayne and Kathy came for a visit. We had a nice time shopping and eating out! Thad enjoyed having his grandparents here for a few days. He really enjoyed showing him his frog tent. They bought it for him for his birthday and got to see the real deal while they were here. (I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of them together this weekend!!!!)

My mother in law Kathy has always been there for me since I met her. She is good with Thad and her other grandchildren. She is very laid back and enjoys taking care of all us kids when we come home to Tribune. The older kids really like going to Grandma Kathy's house because its Grandma's house and Grandma's cool rules!!!

Anytime I have a question regarding a recipe, medical question, etc she is right there to answer it for me. Kathy and Wayne have been out alot to help us with improvements on our house. They came out when we first bought it to help rip out carpet, paint, and install our counters and kitchen sink. They came last summer to paint the outside of our house. They are always there for us when we need their help.

I was very fortunate to marry into such a great family. Thanks Kathy for being there for me and taking such good care of Adam growing up (even if you did baby him!!!!)

Dizzy boy

Thad decided he wanted to crawl in circles. He goes around about 4 times and stops and falls over. He thinks its the funniest thing!

Thad walking behind his car

Thad isn't ready to walk on his own yet so he pushes his car around. He's fast enough crawling so I can imagine how fast he will be when he starts walking. Everyday he does laps from the living room to the hall and back again. He gets mad when he hits a dead end. He starts grunting for us to come turn him around.

A apple a day, keeps the Dr. away!

Thad discovered a new way to eat his apple. Rather than cut it up and have him feed himself he likes to bite into the apple. His whole body shakes as he's trying to bite the apple! He loves it and drools all over the place.
