Cardiac Kids Picnic

Last Sunday we went to our second Cardiac Kids picnic. There is a group through Children's Hospital called Cardiac Kids. They get together a few times a year and its great to meet other parents and see how well the heart babies are doing. It was at Heritage Square in Golden, CO with lots of pizza and kiddy rides. We saw a few familiar faces when we were in the hospital with Emma. We met lots of new families and its nice to talk to other parents who have been through what we have.
Thad had fun running around and collecting sticks.

Here is a new friend Thad met. He walked right up to her and hit her "gently" in the face and they were instant friends!!!! They gave each other cute little hugs too.

We also had a few visitors stop by. Some of the Star Wars characters stopped by to take pictures and see all the kids. Most of the little kids were scared to go up to them and get their picture. Not our little Thad though, we went right up to them.

His favorite was Darth Vader. He was trying to push his buttons on his costume and grab at his mask. Darth was even breathing real heavy like he does. I think the dads enjoyed the Star Wars characters more than the kids. They were trying to make the kids take a picture with them while some of the kiddos were screaming!!

Thad was still a little young for most of the rides but we did go out in a swan paddle boat. It didn't last long because Thad was trying to get in the water. His favorite ride was the carousel. Next year he will be the perfect age for all those fun rides.
After all the running around and playing Thad was exhausted and sleeping by the time we hit the highway! We had a really nice time and look forward to next years event!

Although the picnic was for both Thad and Emma, we are so thankful that we have Thad in your arms since Emma is in the hands of Jesus. He is a blessing from heaven and we are glad Children's Hospital was there for you when he and Emma were born as well as now.
