Playing with dolls

When my neices were here Shayna had her babydoll with her and Thad was a little curious on what it was. He liked poking the ears and eyes of the doll.

I would sing "Rock-a-bye baby" and swing the doll in my arms and then he would do the same thing.

Blessing 12

I (Adam) have had the last week off from work. I have been able to focus on my primary job this week, being a dad. What a true blessing this week has been. I got to see Thad grow from day to day. I have found out things that I didn't know about him- his tickle spots, how he loves to look outside and how Chauchi and Thad are becoming really good pals. He also thinks since dad is home he can bend a few of the rules. Skipping nap time (just once), making mess after mess after mess and pajama day have been a few bad habits he got into. But he also has shown how wonderful a child he is.

Spending these past few days together has really been great. I love being a dad and cherish each day with him. Today (Thursday) it started snowing @ noon. Mindy's work allowed her to come home early so Thad and I had to accept a new member to the Boy's Club. We will have a great afternoon with the whole family.

Thad Vs. Chauchi

Chauchi steals Thad's socks all the time! Thad is pretty strong and can usually get them back from Chauchi. He also likes to give them to Chauchi to play with.

Thad's first camping trip

Thad got this cool frog tent for his birthday from Grandma Kathy and Papa Wayne. We put it up a few weeks ago and he LOVES it! It's been in our living room for a couple weeks, in his room and now in our spare room.

He had so much fun going in it and playing. He didn't like it when Chauchi tried coming in. He would yell at him when he got close!

Thanks Grandma Kathy and Papa Wayne for the neat tent! Thad can't wait to actually sleep in it when he gets older.

Blessing 11

My neices are here from Kansas for their Spring break. Here is a little about each one of them.

Shayna just turned 8 years old. She is always willing to help me no matter what it is and loves helping with Thad. She is very responsible and loves reminding her younger sisters she is older. She also likes to boss them around just a little! I remember when Shayna was a little baby and I was going to college. She would come and spend the weekend with me when she was a little over 1 year old. She is very special to me and says when she gets older she wants to move to Colorado and live with Didi.
Hannah is 6 years old and looks like she is 4! She is a petite little girl and loves telling on her sisters. Hannah and Macie are little peas in a pod who do everything together. We call Hannah a little monkey because she is so small and loves to climb on everyone. She is a little sweetie and gives hugs to you all the time.

Macie is the youngest and is 4 years old. She looks like she is a quiet little girl but once you get her around her sisters she has to talk really loud to talk over them. She likes to tell me everything that is going on. Her sweet little voice will say "Didi, Chauchi's looking at me" or "Didi, Thad just touched my leg" and on and on and on!!!!!

I wish the girls lived closer to us. We enjoy them coming out to Colorado and doing fun stuff. 2 years ago we took the train to the top of Pikes Peak and went to a disney on ice show. This summer we look forward to taking them to the Zoo with Thad!

1243 Miles and 3 States in 4 Days

My college roommate Shiloh was having her bridal shower this past weekend in Kansas City, MO. She is getting married in Mexico and since we wouldn't be able to make it to the wedding I decided to surprise her for the shower. I was hoping Adam would have come with me but with work and a few other meetings he couldn't get out of it (actually I think it the long drive was the reason) so Thad and I loaded up and drove to Kansas on Thursday. We only had to stop 3 times along the way to Russell. It wasn't a very good trip for Thad, ever since we left Colorado he was grunting and trying to work something out. He slept a little of the way but he really liked to throw his toys and blankets on the floor on the side I couldn't reach! Around 8:00 we were about an hour from Russell when I see flashing red and blue lights behind me! We pulled over and the trooper came to my car and told me one of my headlights was out. The funny thing was when I pulled over and hit those little bumps on the side of the road it turned back on! He was a very nice guy took down my license and let me go on my way telling me to get it fixed as soon as possible. So after all that excitement we were a few blocks from my parents house when I hear Thad vomiting in the back seat. Not just a little but ALOT! I pull over to make sure he's okay and by this time he just wants out of his car seat. I get to my parents house unload everything, give Thad a bath which he wasn't in the mood for. He was still grunting from his earlier problem. Finally it came!!!! After the diaper change he was a new baby. He was happy crawling around and trying to talk to Smokey, my parents dog. He was drinking some milk and snacking on cheerios when he threw up again. I do have to say he is still a happy baby after he gets all the yuck yuck out. He woke up only once that night. He must have caught a 24 hour stomach bug. He had no interest in eating the next day either. Good thing for removable car seat covers that can be washed! I think I spent over 30 minutes cleaning out the little cracks.

On Friday afternoon we headed for Topeka where we spent the night. Thad was doing great on the car ride and slept most of the time. Saturday morning we drove to Kansas City for the shower. It was a long 10 hour total drive but it was worth all of it to see the look on Shiloh's face when she saw us. Both of us got teary eyed and she was very surprised to see us. Thad didn't know what to think about all those women, he turned into a BIG mama's boy this weekend. I was able to see some of my college friends and catch up with them. After the shower we headed back for Russell. Sunday we got up went to church and headed home for Colorado. A few stops along the way and FINALLY we pulled into home at 5:00 on the dot. What a long trip, just like the title says we went 1243 miles and visited 3 states in 4 days. Next time we decide to do this again we are definitely taking our daddy with us!!!!

Loving on mommy during the shower

Thad's Cardiologist Check up

At Thad's cardiologist appointment last Thursday he got an "A"!!!!!! Yea Thad! It was alot of distracting trying to get Thad to hold still for his echo. Alicia had her work cut in trying to get good pictures from the echo. She managed to do it and we managed to distract Thad with a phone or the tv or his milk. Then on to the EKG where he was not happy to have all those sticker tabs placed all over his body. Then that nasty blood pressure cuff that squeezes his little leg. After all the torture we got to see Dr. Brames where he gave us the great news. "Everything looks good!" He said his echo looks better than his last one in November. His pressures were down, great blood flow throughout his heart and his valves look good as well. We don't go back for 6 whole months! I'm sure September will be here before we know it.

We are so blessed to have Thad and to have his appointment go so well. I always go into his office with a little pit in my stomach. I guess I need to trust God more and know he is the ultimate physician healing Thad's heart a little more each day.

Blessing 10

I think it is such a blessing to have Thad sleep all through the night!! For the past few weeks he has gone to bed by 8:00 and doesn't make a sound until 7:00 the next morning. The first night he slept all night I woke up in a little panic wondering if he had cried and I just didn't hear him or what if something happened to him. Then after the second night and third night and so on I realized he was becoming a big boy and needs his rest. I haven't had a decent night sleep in over 2 years so it is so nice to wake up feeling refreshed in the morning.

Now if only Chauchi would sleep all night to Adam could have a decent night!!

Blessing 9

My dad is my blessing for this week. We are very close and I know I can talk to him about anything. He is very understanding, loving and has been there for me through everything. I have learned a lot from him and see him in myself. Working with him all through high school and college at my parents restaurant was very beneficial to me. He taught me my work ethic and what it means to work hard and get the job done.

Just like with my mom, I do things or say things and Adam comments "that is something my dad would do or say." I guess the saying is true about how you grow up to be your parents. I love all of his words of wisdom. He has many that he tells me over and over and a few are: He always reminds me not to drive with my cruise control on in the rain, always watch those overpasses and bridges when its icy, and every time I salt my food he comments how bad salt is for me, he says not to salt my food, there's enough salt already added in.

I have always been close to my dad and I know he cares about me very much. He is great with Thad and the rest of my neices and nephew. Thad lights up every time he sees his Papa Steve. He also knows when Papa is on the phone by the pig noise my dad does to Thad.
Thanks dad for always being there for me and taking care of me. I love you!

Wagon Ride

Thad had his first wagon ride a few days ago. Our weather has been so nice this past week so we took his birthday present for a spin. He liked it at first but then the vibrations scared him a little. We only went down the block and back since he got a little scared. We still had a fun time and we are looking forward to many more wagon rides!
