Thad's Cardiologist check up

Thad had his cardiologist check up today.  It has been one year since our last visit.  Even though we only go once a year now it is torture to get him to lay still for the echo.  He is VERY dramatic and always makes a big production out of it!  He managed to stay still for a bit but kept asking "are you done yet?"

After the echo is the EKG, that is another dramatic event.  It was a little better this time because he counted the stickers as she was putting them on.  He also liked helping her take them off.

This picture says it all! He dislikes the blood pressure the most.  He doesn't like to lay down on the table.  When she was taking the blood pressure and squeezing his leg he says to her "hey, not so tight. You are going to break my leg!" That was probably the funniest thing I heard today. He was so serious when he said it too.

After all of that he was fine.  We waited anxiously for Dr. Brames to come in and give us the results!

He likes Dr. Brames.  He is never afraid of him and lets him listen to his heart.

The good news is not much has changed with Thad's heart function in the past year.  Dr. Brames saw a little narrowing in his aortic arch where they repaired his coarctation.  That is to be expected and at this point nothing will have to be done to correct it.  His mitral valve is a little leaky but still doing the job.  Dr. Brames predicts sometime throughout Thad's life he will have to have his mitral valve replaced.  Right now he rates it a 5.  When it gets to a 15 is when he will have to have the valve replaced.  I'm praying for years and years down the road for that! All in all, Thad is doing great! No big changes and we go back in one year.  I'm glad we are on the yearly schedule.  I don't know if I can take the 2-3 year checkups just yet.

We always have to get a picture of the two of them.  Dr. Brames has been through everything with us.  He was our cardiologist with Emma and has followed all three kids.  We are lucky to have him as Thad's cardiologist.

And we always have to get a "cheesy" smile picture!

We are so thankful for how well Thad is doing.  He is such a blessing!
